Official store or key store?
The same game is often far cheaper as a key than on the platform's own store. Here's what's different.
| Official store | Key store | |
|---|---|---|
| Examples | Steam, Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop | YuPlay, Loaded, GamersGate, Zapagames |
| Price | Full price unless there's a sale | Often much cheaper |
| How you get it | Straight onto your account | A code you redeem on the platform |
| Refunds | The platform's own policy | The store's policy, often only before you've revealed or used the key |
| If something goes wrong | The platform's support | The store you bought from |
